    EV Chargers We Install

We install all major residential EV charger brands. Whether your charger came with the car, you bought one separately, or you want a recommendation, we'll handle it:
If you already bought a charger, bring it. If you haven't yet, we'll help you pick one that fits your car, your home's electrical system, and your charging habits.

Level 1 vs Level 2: Which Do You Need?

Almost every EV owner ends up wanting Level 2 charging at home. Here's why:
    Level 1 Charging

A Level 1 charger uses a standard 120V outlet and adds about 3 to 5 miles of range per hour. That’s fine if you drive less than 30 miles a day and can leave your car plugged in overnight every night. For most people, it’s not enough.

    Level 2 Charging

A Level 2 charger uses a dedicated 240V circuit (similar to what runs your dryer or oven) and adds 20 to 40 miles of range per hour depending on the charger and your car’s onboard charger capacity. You can fully recharge most EVs overnight, and topping up after work takes a couple of hours instead of overnight. For anyone driving more than commuting distance — or anyone with a longer-range EV like a Lightning or R1T — Level 2 is the right answer.

We’ve helped many homeowners pass this inspection on the first try. If you’re listing your home soon, we can do a pre-sale walkthrough, identify any compliance issues, and bring everything up to code before the official inspection — saving you the cost and hassle of a failed inspection at closing.

What's Involved in a Home EV Charger Installation

    1. Site visit and load assessment — we evaluate your electrical panel’s capacity, the distance from the panel to your parking spot, and whether your panel needs an upgrade to handle a Level 2 charger
    2. Charger recommendation — if you don’t already have one, we’ll help you pick a charger that matches your car and your home
    3. Panel upgrade or subpanel installation — if your existing panel can’t handle the additional load, we’ll upgrade it to a higher amperage service or add a subpanel
    4. Permitting — we handle all permits required by your township
    5. Dedicated 240V circuit installation — running the wire from your panel to your charger location
    6. Charger mounting and wiring — interior or exterior, hardwired or NEMA 14-50 plug-in
    7. Testing and walkthrough — we verify everything works correctly and walk you through the charger’s app and settings
    New Jersey EV Charger Rebates

New Jersey has been one of the most aggressive states in the country at incentivizing EV adoption, and several rebate programs are available to homeowners installing residential chargers — including state-level programs and utility-specific rebates from JCP&L and Atlantic City Electric. Programs change frequently, so we always check what’s currently available before quoting a job and help our customers identify which programs they qualify for.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a home EV charger installation cost?
It varies based on your home's electrical panel, the distance from the panel to your parking spot, and whether you need a panel upgrade. Most straightforward installations — where the panel has capacity and the run is reasonable — fall into a fairly predictable range. Installations that require a panel upgrade, long wire runs, or trenching to a detached garage cost more. We give you a clear, itemized quote after the site visit so there are no surprises.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel to install an EV charger?
Sometimes, but not always. Many homes have enough capacity in the existing panel to add a Level 2 charger without an upgrade. Older homes, homes with smaller services (100A or less), and homes that already have heavy electrical loads (heat pumps, hot tubs, electric ranges) often do need an upgrade or subpanel. We do a load calculation during the site visit to give you a clear answer.
Can I install the charger outside?
Yes — most residential EV chargers are rated for outdoor use, and we install them outside frequently for homes without garages or with detached garages. Outdoor installations require a NEMA-rated weatherproof enclosure and may need additional weather protection depending on the brand. We'll recommend the right setup based on where your car parks.
I'm getting a new EV soon — should I install the charger before or after the car arrives?
Before, ideally. Installation typically takes a few hours once permits are issued, but the permitting process and any panel work can add time depending on your township and current scheduling. Getting the charger installed before the car arrives means you can charge from day one.
